Google Trekker for Westfield Trails

PARKS DEPARTMENT COMPLETES GOOGLE TREKKER FOR TRAILS

Westfield, IN- Westfield’s parks department has completed imaging of the city’s extensive trails system using technology from Google.
Two employees from the department spent three days walking through Westfield’s parks and along the trails with the Google Trekker – a 50-pound backpack equipped with multiple 3-D cameras.
“The Trekker allows us to capture 3-D images of our trails system so that people can get a realistic idea of what the trails look like from an online vantage point,” parks employee Emily Clark said.
Clark, along with her coworker Brittany Goger, clocked an impressive 20 miles over the three-day period in 90 degree heat.
The images will be compiled by Google and loaded online, viewable in a fashion similar to Google’s street view tool.
You can follow the device as it travels through the state by using #indianagoogletrekker, on Twitter.
