An area in downtown Westfield will be better lit starting tonight, thanks to the installation of three new solar-powered lights.
Three 240-watt solar streetlights are now installed at the public parking lot at the intersection of Park Street and Mill Street. The parking lot helps to alleviate street parking for restaurants in the area.
“Due to the increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic in this area over the last few years, we wanted to make sure people had a safe environment in which to park and walk to their favorite Westfield restaurants,” Director of Public Works Jeremy Lollar said.
Manufactured by ClearWorld, the streetlights help eliminate the carbon footprint of traditional utility poles, and also comply with the International Dark-Sky Association’s recommendations to help eliminate light pollution.
